With XJTAG 4.2 a specific release, or a family of releases, can now be specified for XJPack files. When opening an XJPack file in XJRunner or XJInvestigator with a target version specified, a warning will be displayed if the XJTAG application being used to open the XJPack file does not match the specified target version.
This can be useful in locations that share a workstation PC between production line setups for multiple products, where each XJTAG project may have been developed using a different version of the XJTAG software and may require a specific version to operate as intended. Or it may simply be useful to prevent accidental running of a project in an unexpected version of XJTAG.
This target version may be set either when creating the XJPack file, or through the XJPack file settings on the XJRunner Setup screen.

Any projects with this feature enabled will require XJTAG software version 4.2.0 or later. Once enabled, a specific target version (e.g. 4.2.0), or a family of releases (e.g. 4.2) may be specified. If a family is specified then any minor releases within that major release will be considered a match, allowing the use of bug-fix releases if necessary. This restriction may be optionally applied to XJIntegration through an additional “Enforce preferred target in XJIntegration” check box. If this is enabled then XJIntegration will be prevented from opening the XJPack file, unless the target versions match.
